As the leading digital infrastructure authority, Uptime Institute, we are working in partnership with the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT) & Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) to create funded career development Pathways into key job roles within the data center industry.
Uptime Institute has been the global data center industry authority for almost 30 years and is opening the Uptime Institute Data Center Academy KSA to provide world-class industry education to help individuals start a career in the data center industry.

On successful application graduates gain employment and are enrolled onto either the Design and Project Management Career Development Pathway, or the Operational Management Career Development Pathway, both are carefully designed Pathways that align academic interests to career objectives and advancement.
Academy Partners
The Design and Project Management Career Development Pathway
The Design & Project Management Career Development Pathway is tailored for graduates with a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or IT fields.
This Pathway provides a robust platform for developing essential skills and knowledge regarding all aspects of data center design, in addition to how to successfully implement a data center expansion project and bring it to a close through applying robust project management principles.
Graduates will benefit from a blend of world-class education offered by the Academy, structured on-the-job training with their employers, and continuous assessment with ongoing support to ensure their needs are met throughout their learning journey.
Key Components of the Design and Management Development Pathway include:- Induction to health & safety practices
- Understand the 4 key areas of the data center (power, cooling, IT and space) and their interdependencies
- Understand local and global data center regulations and standards
- Design physical infrastructure, electrical distribution systems, air-conditioning, data cabling and building support systems.
- Create a sustainability strategy and business implementation plan for the data center environment.
- Understand the key considerations of a data center build project and how to apply project management principals to them.
- Gain a full understanding of what data center is
- Can understand all aspects of data center operations including technical and physical constraints
- Can understand the benefits of carrying out physical inspections of data center components as a matter of routine
- Identify key stake holders and understands the business needs
- Can apply industry data center design principles incorporating all aspects of a complex design
- Applies current best practices and applicable standards to ensure design compliance
- Provides a complex design that considers flexibility and scalability to address future requirements
- Develop competency in the use of a broad range of project management tools
- Develop personal leadership and management attributes
- Demonstrate the ability to manage complex repeatable processes successfully

The Operational Management Career Development Pathway
The Operational Management Career Development Pathway is also tailored for graduates with a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or IT fields to provide essential knowledge, skills and competency to manage the complex and technical data center environment and the ability to optimize its effective by driving efficiencies.
Graduates will benefit from a blend of world-class education offered by the Academy, structured on-the-job training with their employers, and continuous assessment with ongoing support to ensure their needs are met throughout their learning journey.
Key Components of the Operational Management Development Pathway include:- Induction to health & safety practices
- Gain a full understanding of what data center is
- Understand the safety considerations of working within a data center
- Understand the 4 key areas of the data center (power, cooling, IT and space) and their interdependencies
- Understand local and global data center regulations and standards
- Operational management of a data center facility including:
- Regulations, standards & processes
- Transformational programs
- Facility management
- Implementing data center projects
- People management
- Business strategy
- Auditing
- Asset management
- Create an energy efficiency plan for the data center facilit
- The ability to develop a management strategy that aligns with the business operational requirements
- Recognizes the need to develop a multi-disciplinary team supporting all operational functions of the data center
- Can identify the processes within data center operations that ensure consistent reliability, security and integrity of data and the availability of service.
- Understand how to build a comprehensive energy plan and make a significant contribution to your organization’s energy strategy
- Learn how to identify the appropriate energy use systems to audit and what to look for
- Learn how to use energy assessment tools to analyze site data and implement real energy savings
- Become an 'energy champion' within your organization, able to accurately identify and recommend effective ways of reducing energy and cutting carbon emissions

Application Process
You can join one of the live Online Information Sessions for more information and to meet the Pathway administrator and ask any questions you have. See information below.
After attending the Online Information Session, you will be provided with a link to apply to the Academy.
On submission of the application form, you will be emailed an invitation to complete an initial Online Assessment, covering Maths, English and Inductive Reasoning, this must be completed by the specified application deadline. If you miss the deadline, your application will be reviewed as part of the next cohort.
When you pass the Assessment, you will be provided access to pre-selected job opportunities with participating employers, and you can apply to them directly by following the instructions in the job advert.
Successful applicants will receive an Offer of Employment which includes world-class training, coaching, mentoring and assessment linked to the Career Development Pathway.
