As the leading digital infrastructure authority, Uptime Institute, we are working in partnership with the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT) & Communications, Space & Technology Commission (CST) to create funded career development Pathways into key job roles within the data center industry.
Uptime Institute has been the global data center industry authority for over 30 years and is opening the Uptime Institute Data Center Academy KSA to provide world-class industry education to help individuals start a career in the data center industry.

The Technician Career Development Pathway
This Pathway provides a robust platform for developing essential skills and applying them within the data center environment.
Graduates will benefit from a blend of world-class education offered by the Academy, structured on-the-job training with their employers, and continuous assessment with ongoing support to ensure their needs are met throughout their learning journey.
Key Components of the Technician Development Pathway include:
- Induction to health & safety practices
- Network infrastructure cabling installation, termination and testing
- Gain the knowledge and skills that are considered essential in ensuring that a data center facility is operated and maintained to the highest possible standard
- Understand codes of conduct, regulations, industry and best practice guidelines
- Gain an understanding of, and the ability to execute, operational processes and procedures critical for maintaining key data center environments, including:
- Power systems
- Cooling systems
- IT systems
- Space
- Understand data center maintenance strategies
- Gain globally and industry recognized credentials
- Gain the knowledge and skill to confidently install, test and certify copper and fiber cable installations
- Gain a full understanding of what a data center is
- Can understand all aspects of data centre operations including technical and physical constraints
- Can understand the benefits of carrying out physical inspections of data center components as a matter of routine
- Can identify potential equipment failures before they occur
- Can understand the need to adhere to codes, legislation and standards and is focused on first-time compliance, avoiding unnecessary rework
- Can recognize the roles of others within the facility and can improve business processes through effective contribution to the right people and at the right level

The Technician Pathway Key Information
- Desire and drive to broaden technical knowledge
- Diploma in electrical mechanical or IT field
- English language to IELTS level 4 or CEFR: B1
- Successful completion of pre-entry assessment
Application Process
You can join one of the Online Information Sessions for more information where you can also meet the Pathway administrator and ask any questions you have. See information below.
After attending the Online Information Session, you will be provided with a link to apply to the Academy.
On submission of the application form, you will be emailed an invitation to complete an initial Online Assessment, covering Maths, English and Inductive Reasoning, this must be completed by the specified application deadline. If you miss the deadline, your application will be reviewed as part of the next cohort.
When you pass the Assessment, you will be provided access to pre-selected job opportunities with participating employers, and you can apply to them directly by following the instructions in the job advert.
Successful applicants will receive an Offer of Employment which includes world-class training, coaching, mentoring and assessment linked to the Career Development Pathway.
